Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, backed President Prabowo’s firm stance against rogue law enforcement officers who shield illegal acts or crimes.

“Commission III wholeheartedly supports President Prabowo’s firmness to act against all officers who still try to shield criminal acts,” Sahroni said in a statement on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

Sahroni said the firm commitment expressed by President Prabowo and the Chief of Police to crack down on officers shielding illegal crimes would be complied with. He did not want directives from the top to be ignored by officers for personal gain.

“Now that the President and the Chief of Police have made a commitment, the ranks below must comply. Because sometimes directives from the top leadership are clear from the outset, yet the lower ranks still seize opportunities,” he said.

“Therefore, do not hesitate to conduct dismissal with dishonour (PTDH) and criminal proceedings against every official who still dares to shield,” he added.

Sahroni emphasised that under President Prabowo’s leadership, there must be no room for officials to abuse their power by sheltering behind rank and authority.

“Because under President Prabowo’s leadership, no matter how high the rank, no matter how great the influence, if they still meddle in harming the public, they will be swept away. No double standards,” he concluded.

Earlier reports indicated that President Prabowo Subianto issued a stern warning against practices of official embezzlement and alleged involvement by officers shielding illegal actions leading to losses for the state.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in a speech on the Macro-Economic Framework and the Fiscal Policy Pillars (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN in the plenary meeting room of the DPR, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

The head of state stressed that the government would employ advanced technology to pursue various forms of violations.

Prabowo emphasised that the era of officials playing with hidden assets would soon end. The government, he said, now has the technological capability to trace misappropriation to even the most hidden points.

“I will use the most advanced technology. Defence technology can locate underground weapons depots,” Prabowo said.

He noted that modern technology today can even detect underground bunkers thought to be used to conceal illegal wealth.
