Sahroni Joins in Helping Viral Child Azizah Who Collects Scrap

Jakarta, VIVA – The poignant story of a child named Azizah Candrasari (6.5 years old), who went viral on social media, has captured public attention. At such a tender age, she has had to take on her late mother’s role, living in a simple rented room in Mrican, Giwangan, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta, with her 56-year-old father Hermanto, a scrap collector currently ill with a head tumour, and her five-year-old sibling. Despite the circumstances, Azizah continues to manage the household and care for her father. Upon seeing this situation, Ipda Ali Nur Suwandi, via his @polisibaksos account, acted swiftly. He took Azizah and her father to his Bumi Damai Shelter Foundation to provide protection, treatment, and a more suitable environment. Azizah is now residing at the foundation. Ipda Ali’s prompt and humane action received appreciation from Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Ipda Ali stated that he received assistance of Rp50 million along with full equipment and needs for the children. “Yes, that’s correct, alhamdulillah, there is assistance from Mr Sahroni amounting to Rp50 million and various equipment as well as needs for hundreds of children here. From new clothes, hijabs, stationery, books, toys, bathing equipment, to treating them to nice meals. This is extraordinarily meaningful for us,” said Ali in his statement in Jakarta on Monday, 20 April 2026. He also expressed thanks to Sahroni for giving significant attention to Azizah and the children at this foundation. “They are very happy. This also becomes motivation for us to continue social and humanitarian activities as part of the Indonesian National Police’s dedication to the community,” Ali remarked. In response, Sahroni confirmed that through his team at the Ahmad Sahroni Center (ASC), he immediately provided aid as a form of appreciation for Ipda Ali’s humanitarian action. “What Ipda Ali has done is an excellent example. The police are not only present as law enforcers, but also as protectors and nurturers who truly come down directly to help the community in need. This should serve as inspiration for the entire ranks in the field. Commission III certainly greatly appreciates such humane steps,” said Sahroni.
