Sahroni Highlights Troubling Track Record of Green SM Taxi Suspected as Cause of KRL vs Argo Bromo Anggrek Train Collision: Alarming
The long-distance Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the Gambir–Surabaya route was involved in a collision with a KRL electric commuter train at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday evening, 27 April 2026.
KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo explained that the incident began with an accident at a railway crossing in the Bulak Kapal area. The event involved a Green SM taxi that was struck by the KRL at the level crossing (JPL), causing the KRL’s journey to be disrupted and forcing the train to stop.
In response to the incident, Deputy Chairman of DPR RI Commission III Ahmad Sahroni has urged the police and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to thoroughly investigate the alleged negligence of the Green SM taxi in this case.
“I ask the police to collaborate with the KNKT to properly investigate the involvement of the Green SM taxi, which is suspected to be one of the triggers of this fatal collision. It needs to be checked whether the driver deliberately crossed the tracks knowing that a train was approaching, because he should also understand that the electric vehicle can stop immediately when it encounters a rail signal. This is extremely dangerous. If there is an element of intent, not only the driver should be heavily punished, but the company must also be sanctioned,” Sahroni stated in his comments on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
Furthermore, Sahroni noted that Indonesia is a country open to investment. However, this does not mean that businesses can operate without strict SOPs and cause public concern.
“Because it needs to be noted that our country is very open to foreign investment or businesspeople wanting to make money here. But the products must be truly good and bring great benefits to the public. Meanwhile, the track record of this electric taxi service, if we look at social media, is often reckless and troubling, with many reports from the public,” Sahroni added.
Finally, Sahroni also mentioned that the reckless actions of the Green SM fleet had previously caused a train accident in the Sawah Besar area, Central Jakarta, in December 2025.
“Even before, the same taxi was hit by a train in Sawah Besar because it was suspected of forcing through the gate. This means there is a pattern and systemic negligence that must be evaluated, and even, as mentioned, sanctions could be imposed,” Sahroni said.
