Sahroni Confirms DPR Has Not Received Presidential Letter on National Police Chief Replacement

Deputy Chairman of House Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, has confirmed that the House of Representatives (DPR) has never received a presidential letter (Surpres) regarding the replacement of the National Police Chief (Kapolri). Sahroni made this statement in response to rumours that a Surpres for the Kapolri’s replacement had been sent from the Palace to the DPR. “There isn’t one, there isn’t one,” Sahroni told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 4 August 2026. “There isn’t one yet, that’s the issue. If there were a letter, we would know. If you ask, I would answer. But there isn’t one yet,” he continued. When asked about Listyo Sigit Prabowo’s performance as National Police Chief so far, Sahroni assessed it as good. He also considered the emergence of speculation about the police chief’s replacement to be reasonable, as Sigit has served for nearly five years. “No, the police chief is doing a good job. It’s just that the issue of replacing the Kapolri is blowing hard, which is natural since he has been in office for five years,” Sahroni concluded.
