Sahroni Condemns Golf Caddy Assault: 'Whoever It Is, the Perpetrator Must Go to Prison'

A golfer with the initials FP allegedly assaulted a golf caddy in the Modernland area of Tangerang City, reportedly triggered by jealousy. As a result of the assault, the victim suffered a laceration to the head, bruising across the entire face, and required treatment at the Tangerang Regency Regional General Hospital. The Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Metro Police, AKP Iwan Heries, stated that the incident was sparked by an emotional issue, with the victim allegedly feeling jealous of a course marshal who had previously been asked to buy a drink. Responding to the incident, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, condemned the perpetrator’s violent actions. Sahroni urged that the perpetrator face legal consequences for his deeds. ‘This is an utterly unjustifiable act, especially over a trivial personal matter. Whatever the motive, violence is not the way to resolve problems,’ Sahroni said in a written statement on Monday, 29 June 2026. Sahroni also supported the Tangerang City Police for successfully apprehending the perpetrator and charging him with assault. ‘Whoever it is must be ensured to go to prison,’ Sahroni stated. In addition to ensuring the police provide assistance to the victim, Sahroni also did not want such a personal, violent incident to tarnish the sport of golf. ‘On the other hand, I ask that the victim also receive the necessary assistance, particularly to recover from his current condition. Do not let a personal matter like this tarnish golf enthusiasts, caddies, and all golf course workers who have been working professionally to earn an honest living. This is an individual act that must be legally accounted for,’ Sahroni said.
