Sahroni Calls for Bigmo's YouTube Channel to Be Blocked Over Child Exploitation in Vape Promotion

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, has called for the YouTube account of streamer Muhammad Jannah, also known as Bigmo, to be blocked following his involvement of minors in a vape product promotion. Sahroni stressed that the matter has gone too far and must be dealt with according to the law. “Bigmo’s promotion of vape to young children is no longer a game or a joke, because it clearly violates the law. Advertising nicotine on social media alone is prohibited, let alone to children. So many aspects have been violated. This individual has had many previous cases. The past ones could be forgiven and he was let go, but this time it cannot be ignored because it is a clear violation of the law,” Sahroni told reporters on Monday (3/8/2026). He further urged the police and the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block Bigmo’s YouTube account, stating the streamer’s actions have become excessive and dangerous for children. “I also ask the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the police to request that YouTube Indonesia block Bigmo’s account. Too many rules have been broken. He is also provoking people, and then someone reports him. So we ask the police and related agencies to act quickly. The legal procedures must be enforced,” he said. Sahroni also highlighted the rampant misuse of vapes, referencing a major case uncovered by law enforcement involving a home-based factory in Tangerang producing vape cartridges containing narcotics. “I have long and repeatedly voiced that vapes should be banned entirely because of their many harms. So when the President expressed support for banning vapes, it was very welcome. It is long overdue. The potential for abuse is already massive and serious,” he asserted. “Data from the National Narcotics Agency and the police show this, and the latest police discovery was a home factory in Tangerang with a production capacity of 12,000 cartridges and a turnover of IDR 60 billion, involving foreign nationals. This is just one of many uncovered cases, and it is a home-scale operation. The threat is unimaginable if this is allowed to grow. It is a state of emergency,” he continued. Sahroni added that the situation is worsened by massive vape promotions, noting that many children are highly likely to see and imitate the behaviour. “Moreover, these vape promotions often go too far. It is not just the recent Bigmo case, but many promotions on social media are blatantly visible. Many underage children see them, become curious, and end up trying. This is very dangerous for the nation’s generation,” he said. YouTuber Bigmo is once again in trouble with the police. This time, he was reported to the Metro Jaya Regional Police for allegedly involving minors in a promotion of vape liquid or e-cigarettes during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel. A viral clip from the live stream shows Bigmo approaching a vape liquid seller and communicating with several young children at the location. He then invited the children into the camera frame to promote a specific brand of vape liquid. The report against Bigmo was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, who stated that Bigmo was reported for alleged child exploitation in his live broadcast. “The PPA PPO Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police has received a complaint regarding alleged economic exploitation of children in a social media broadcast,” Budi told reporters on Saturday (1/8).
