Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of House Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, has confirmed that his commission will directly oversee the entire process of searches and examinations in three corruption cases currently being handled by the Corruption Eradication Task Force of the Indonesian National Police and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. The cases involve alleged corruption related to coal supply, Asabri, and Krakatau Steel, with 15 witnesses having been examined to date. In connection with these cases, police have searched 12 locations in the Jakarta and Sentul areas. “I remind all parties that the harmony of the two main law enforcement institutions in Indonesia must not be damaged by the actions of rogue individuals. Therefore, I must emphasise that Commission III’s direct oversight of the searches in these cases is to ensure legal transparency regarding legal matters that have captured public attention,” Sahroni said in a written statement on Monday, 13 July 2026. Sahroni stated that the commission’s actions are part of its supervisory function over legal cases of public concern. “The aim is to prevent any information from being misused by individuals who wish to pit our law enforcement institutions against each other,” he said. Furthermore, Commission III has assured that the entire series of cases will be investigated thoroughly, objectively, and transparently so that the public is aware of the clarity. “The point is that Commission III will ensure the investigation process of these cases is transparent, clear, and that nothing is covered up. Because the public has the right to know every development in these cases,” Sahroni concluded.
