Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Aceh Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Acceleration Command Post, Safrizal ZA, has assured that the construction of a steel frame bridge over the Wih Porak River in Pintu Rime Gayo sub-district, Bener Meriah, is proceeding smoothly according to schedule.

During his visit to the project site on Wednesday, Safrizal directly observed the land hardening process, which serves as the primary foundation before the installation of the steel frame. He stated that this step is crucial given the Wih Porak area’s history of hydrometeorological disaster vulnerability, including overflow floods that disrupted transportation access to Central Aceh in early April.

“We want to ensure that, technically, this land preparation is thoroughly mature so that this 40-metre steel frame bridge will ultimately have maximum durability,” he said.

To maintain a smooth work rhythm, his team issued specific instructions to the contractors to position workers close to the project site. According to him, time efficiency and close on-site coordination are key to accelerating construction.

In addition to Wih Porak, he also monitored the condition of the Bailey Bridge Umah Besi in Gajah Putih sub-district, which has suffered structural damage due to excessive vehicle tonnage loads.

In response to the situation, Safrizal acted swiftly by coordinating with the central government for the delivery of Armco materials.

He explained that these materials will be used to reinforce the temporary bridge being prepared, ensuring that when the Bailey Bridge is dismantled for total repairs, the flow of logistics and public transportation will not be interrupted.
