Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-department has added a number of signs to excavation pits on Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, to anticipate accidents. “The mitigation carried out at the location is to protect the excavation with signs, water barriers, road reflectors, and rotary lamps. Then, the pit will be closed and reinstatement of the road structure will take place on 28 June 2026,” said Acting Head of the West Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-department Abdul Jabbar when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday. He said the addition of these signs follows an incident on Thursday (25/6) in which a motorcyclist rode into an excavation pit on Jalan Daan Mogot, Kalideres. Jabbar revealed that based on information received, the motorcyclist crashed into the water barrier protection and PPDU at high speed, causing the motorcycle to enter the pit. However, the incident ended amicably after the rider was evacuated and mediation was conducted by the police. Previously, a video of the incident involving a motorcyclist entering the excavation pit went viral on social media. The post’s caption urged road users to be more careful when passing through and also highlighted the uneven condition of the road patch after the excavation work was carried out.
