Safety Product Innovation Can Coexist with Fine Art
Passengers were awakened by the clamour of voices.
Indonesia has once again made an innovative stride through the ‘Jelaga di Ujung Raya’ art exhibition, held from 12 September to 13 October 2026, at the Zen1 Gallery, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
This exhibition serves as evidence that safety products, specifically electric vehicle fire extinguishers developed by local talent, can coexist with fine art. The collaboration between LFK—a product line of PT Famindo Alfa Spektrum Teknologi—and renowned artist Arkiv Vilmansa has resulted in a limited edition of only 100 units produced worldwide.
Furthermore, the safety message from this collaboration has inspired 20 other Indonesian artists to participate in the creative process.
General (Ret.) Dr H Moeldoko, who opened the exhibition in his capacity as Chairman of Periklindo and former Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, stated that such innovation aligns with the spirit of the younger generation, who are the primary drivers of the electric vehicle era in Indonesia. “The way technology and art are combined ultimately builds engaging awareness… so that all of us using electric cars no longer need to be anxious,” said Moeldoko.
Appreciation also came from the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, H Rano Karno, who is widely known for his background in the Indonesian art and film industries. Rano Karno even became a collector of the limited edition works. “It turns out the painting material is not just ink or paint, but can also involve fire,” remarked Rano Karno.
The pinnacle of this innovation is the world’s first painting technique using a blow torch at temperatures up to 1,000°C on canvas coated with Alpha Tech Shield (Altex), which is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures of up to 1,500°C.
The exhibition, running until 13 October 2026, is open to the public, providing an opportunity for the wider community to witness firsthand how Indonesian safety product innovation can manifest as high-value art.
As part of this safety commitment, the Head of the Jakarta Provincial Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Bayu Meghantara, expressed appreciation for the support from PT Fast in providing the Portex EV Fire Blanket, a specialised fire blanket for electric vehicles to assist Jakarta firefighters in handling EV fires in the field.
