Safeguarding the Supply Chain: PepsiCo's Efforts to Develop Local Farmers
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PepsiCo’s Director of Public Policy, Government Affairs & Corporate Communications, Gabrielle Angriani Johny, openly discussed food safety standards in various countries, including Indonesia.
As a global food and beverage producer, PepsiCo has committed to implementing regulations and ensuring a secure food supply chain.
“Food security and safety are closely tied to us as a global company to ensure a safe supply chain. Global standards mean that everything from the operating country’s regulations is carried out to production standards, food security, and raw materials,” said Gabrielle at the Food Summit 2026 in the Auditorium of Bank Mega Building, Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).
Gabrielle explained that in Indonesia, the company is always actively developing potato and maize agriculture together with local farmers. This effort is part of the company’s commitment to boosting farmers’ productivity and quality.
“We train farmers on how to develop agriculture efficiently and achieve high yields. In addition, the use of fertilisers and pesticides that make raw materials safe and high-quality. Thus, factory production already meets global standards and good practices,” she clarified.
In Indonesia itself, she said, when opening the factory, the company has collaborated with BPOM and complied with many regulations according to standards, from obtaining MD numbers to halal certification.
“We are also proud of our factory, one of the most sustainable ones. We apply high standards in line with other countries. PepsiCo operates in 200 countries and the same high standards are applied elsewhere, even higher than required,” she concluded.
