Safe Ways to Leave Your Electric Motorcycle at Home During Eid Holiday
As the Eid holiday season approaches, many people will leave their vehicles at home for several days to several weeks. For electric motorcycle users, several important considerations must be observed to keep their vehicles safe and in optimal condition when they resume use after the holiday.
“Electric motorcycles have a technology system that allows users to monitor vehicle condition more easily. With a few simple steps before travelling, users can ensure their motorcycles remain safe whilst ready for use again after returning from the holiday,” said Head of Group Product EV 2-Wheels Polytron, Ilman Fachrian Fadly, in a press release on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
Here are several tips that can be implemented before leaving an electric motorcycle during the Eid holiday period, as shared by Polytron:
- No need to switch off the MCB if travelling for less than a month
Switching off the Mini Circuit Breaker (MCB) is generally done when an electric motorcycle is left unattended for an extended period. However, if the holiday journey lasts only around one to two weeks, users do not need to switch it off.
With the system remaining active, users can still monitor and track the vehicle’s last known position through GPS signals on the application, making it easier to check in case anything untoward occurs.
Simply put, the MCB functions as a breaker and connector of electrical current between the battery and other electrical components on the motorcycle, such as the electric motor dynamo. The MCB on an electric motorcycle also functions as a current breaker if a short circuit or electrical fault occurs.
- Use the centre stand
Ensure the motorcycle is parked using the centre stand so that the vehicle’s position is more stable and safe whilst left unattended.
If the motorcycle’s position is stable and upright, this can reduce the risk of the motorcycle falling due to wind gusts, being knocked over by a person, or ground shifting.
Additionally, using the centre stand also helps reduce pressure on one side of the tyre and suspension that can occur if only the side stand is used for an extended period.
With a more balanced position, motorcycle components such as tyres, frame, and suspension can be better maintained, so the electric motorcycle remains in good condition when it is ready to be used again after the holiday.
- Charge the battery to approximately 50 per cent capacity
Before leaving the motorcycle unattended for several days to several weeks, it is recommended to charge the battery to approximately half of its capacity.
The electric motorcycle manufacturer explains that this condition helps maintain battery health whilst the vehicle is not in use.
