Safe from Accident, HS Cigarette Boss Muhammad Suryo Sends 150 Employees on Umrah
MAGELANG – The owner of HS cigarettes, Muhammad Suryo, has delivered good news to his thousands of employees. This year, he will send 150 employees to perform Umrah in the holy land.
Suryo conveyed this during his visit to the HS cigarette factory in Muntilan, Magelang, on Friday (27/3/2026). The Umrah reward is given by Suryo as a form of gratitude because he survived a accident mishap that befell him.
Muhammad Suryo experienced an accident in Kulonprogo, DIY, on Sunday (1/3/2026). In the incident, Suryo was once critical and received intensive care in hospital, while his wife, Anis Syarifah, passed away.
“This is a form of my gratitude and thanks for the prayers and support from all of you. You are the motivators and what makes me strong in facing this trial. I ask you to continue praying for my wife so that she has a good end,” said Suryo while sobbing.
The programme of sending employees on Umrah has been carried out by Suryo every year. However, this time the number of employees sent on Umrah is more than in previous years.
On that occasion, Suryo also provided facilities in the form of special accommodation or mess for disabled employees working in his company. Because many disabled employees come from outside Jogja and Magelang.
Currently, there are already 21 disabled employees working at the HS cigarette factory. Suryo emphasised that he will continue to accept disabled employees at his factory without any requirements.
“For the disabled friends who are already working, we will build a special mess here. We will also continue to accept disabled employees from anywhere and in any number. Come on, disabled friends throughout Indonesia, join us. Everyone can work here without any conditions,” he said.
This news certainly makes thousands of HS employees happy. However, what makes them even happier is seeing Suryo return healthy and successfully survive that tragic mishap.
This was evident when thousands of employees welcomed Suryo’s presence. They appeared happy as well as moved. Several employees, dominated by women, were seen crying and ceaselessly giving thanks because Suryo has recovered.
“When we heard that Mr Suryo had an accident, we were all immediately worried. Especially when we heard that Mrs Anis had passed away and Mr Suryo’s condition was critical. We could only cry and feel weak. Alhamdulillah, today Mr Suryo is healthy and can be with us again,” said one employee, Sundari.
Sundari ceaselessly feels grateful. Because Suryo has helped the community a lot, including those who now work at the cigarette factory.
“May Mr Suryo always be healthy. Mr Suryo is a good person; he really cares about our welfare,” said Sundari, who had been sent on Umrah by Suryo, while crying.
The same sentiment was expressed by Tika, a disabled employee from Temanggung. Tika, along with dozens of disabled employees working at HS, is so grateful that Suryo is healthy again and can be active.
“Mr Suryo’s kindness is so great. Because of him, we disabled friends can get the opportunity to work here,” she said.
Currently, there are 21 disabled employees working at the HS cigarette factory. They hope that in the future, more disabled friends can join HS.
“May HS become even more prosperous so that more disabled friends can be accepted to work. Thank you for the opportunity and all the facilities in the form of mess given to us,” said another disabled person from Magelang, Tenyria Swastika.
