Sadao and Carlton to entertain Jakarta
Japanese saxophonist Sadao Watanabe is scheduled to perform at the Blue Note Jazz Club and restaurant on Jl. Sudirman, Central Jakarta, from Sept. 26 through Oct. 1.
Watanabe and his band, Kei Akagi on keyboard, Jun Kajiwara on guitar, Tomohito Aoki on bass, Toshiharu on drum and Steve Thorton on percussion. will be in Jakarta for 12 performances.
Watanabe won a Grand Award prize in an art festival organized by the Japanese government in 1971 for his concert entitled "Sadao Watanabe Recital". Watanabe has also produced several internationally acclaimed albums such as My Dear Life in 1977, California Shower in 1978, Morning Island in 1979, and Fill Up The Night.
Tickets for the concert will cost Rp 100,000.
From Oct. 4 to 8, the Blue Note will also feature two-time Grammy Award winning guitarist and composer Larry Carlton.
Carlton contributed to the soundtrack of Against All Odds and to the TV series Who's The Bossand Hill Street Blues, for which he won a grammy in 1981. In 1987 he won a Grammy for his song Minute by Minute. (als)
