Former Secretary of Badung Regency, I Wayan Subawa, passed away at Siloam Hospital in Denpasar on Thursday night (30/4/2026). The departure of this senior bureaucrat, who once served as Acting Regent of Badung in 2005, has left deep sorrow among the people of Badung.

News of Subawa’s death was first shared by senior politician Komang Suarsana via a post on his social media account. Suarsana described the late figure as someone with high dedication, serving in bureaucracy, politics, and customs.

“The former Badung Secretary, Wayan Subawa, has passed away forever tonight at Siloam Hospital. May the deceased receive the best place by His side, and may the family left behind be granted strength,” said Suarsana, a former senior Golkar politician who now serves as Treasurer of the PSI Bali Provincial Board.

Subawa is known to hail from Yangbatu, Denpasar. He was also actively fulfilling his duties as Bendesa Adat Pagan in East Denpasar.

“He was a figure who contributed greatly to bureaucracy, politics, and customary affairs in Denpasar. Throughout his life, the late was known as a prominent community figure from Yangbatu who actively served as Bendesa Adat Pagan,” Suarsana stated in the post.

“In the political world as well, he was highly trusted, with his last position as Chairman of the Golkar Bali Advisory Council. Farewell, Pak Yan, may you find peace by His side,” he added.

Subawa was an alumnus of the Faculty of Law at Udayana University, class of 1981. Before becoming Secretary of Badung, the late also served as Assistant I for Government Affairs as well as Head of the Social and Cultural Division of Bappeda in Badung and Tabanan.

After retiring as a bureaucrat, Subawa continued his service in politics. He was entrusted to become Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Golkar Party’s Bali Provincial Board for the 2024-2025 period.

The sad news has also reached the Badung Regency Government apparatus. The Head of Protocol and Leadership Communication Section of the Badung Regency Secretariat, Made Suardita, expressed condolences over Subawa’s passing.

A sense of loss was also expressed by DPD RI member Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra. Rai Mantra recalled his last meeting with the late in Ubud in mid-April.

At that time, the late advised me about health, and we talked a lot about social, political, and cultural matters,” recalled Rai Mantra in a post on his personal social media account.

Wayan Subawa leaves behind a wife, Ni Nyoman Ismayani, and three children: Ni Nyoman Ismayani, I Gede Dwi Purnama Putra, and Ni Putu Ita Wulandari. To date, relatives and colleagues continue to offer condolences.
