Sacrificial Cow Trapped in Bogor Drain After Rebellious Incident
A sacrificial cow became unruly in Kalisuren Village, Tajurhalang Subdistrict, Bogor, West Java, when being unloaded from a pickup truck en route to a musalla.
“When the cow was being unloaded from the vehicle at the musalla, it suddenly became violent,” said Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Department Head Yudi Santosa on Wednesday (27 May 2026).
The incident occurred around 4:00 AM WIB. Panicked residents released the rope tied to its horns as the cow thrashed.
“The cow escaped through a drainage system and crossed the main road in the Bomang area (Bojonggede-Kemang),” he explained.
The animal ran approximately 500 metres from the musalla to the opposite side of a residential area via the drainage system before becoming trapped and unable to climb out.
“Concerned residents reported the incident to the Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Department’s Parung team to carry out the rescue operation,” he added.
Upon receiving the report, officers promptly arrived at the scene. The rescue operation successfully freed the cow from the drainage system.
“The situation is now stable; the cow was successfully rescued by the team. The operation took 1 hour and 15 minutes,” he concluded.
