Sacrificial Cow Escapes into Bogor Minimarket, Chases Woman
A sacrificial cow escaped into a minimarket in Leuwiliang District, Bogor, West Java. The cow was initially being unloaded from a vehicle. ‘The cow was supposed to be unloaded at Al-Awalien Mosque,’ said minimarket employee Faldi Faudzan Setiaji when contacted on Wednesday (27 May 2026). The incident occurred on Tuesday evening (26 May). According to him, the sacrificial cow was being transported to be stored in the mosque area. ‘As it was being unloaded, the cow panicked and jumped across the road,’ he explained. The cow was reportedly hit by a motorcyclist before chasing a woman nearby. Frightened by the pursuing cow, the woman fled into the minimarket, where the animal then entered and caused chaos among the shelves. ‘The woman was in a panic when she ran into Wargakhu minimarket, and the cow went on a rampage inside,’ he said. The minimarket’s losses were estimated at Rp3 million, but the mosque has covered the costs. ‘Thankfully, the cow was secured by its handler,’ he concluded.
