Sacrificial cow escapes and runs onto main road in Ciputat, South Tangerang, residents panic and chase

TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com - A sacrificial cow escaped and ran onto the main road in the Jalan Ir. H. Juanda area, Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang, on Wednesday (27/5/2026) afternoon. The incident was captured in a video posted on the Instagram account @tangsel_update. In the video, a brown cow was seen running between passing vehicles while several residents chased and attempted to catch it. Police immediately checked the crime scene after receiving information from social media. ‘On Wednesday, 27 May 2026 at 1:00 PM WIB, the duty team led by IPDA Rinto Hardianto (Pawas) conducted a site check following social media reports of a sacrificial cow (cattle) escaping on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda,’ said Bambang in an official report received by Kompas.com on Wednesday. Police confirmed no casualties or material damage occurred in the incident. Ciputat Timur Police Station authorities also confirmed the situation at the location remained safe and orderly. ‘There were no casualties, either injuries or material losses, in this incident,’ said Bambang. However, the cow suddenly became agitated, causing its tether to snap and run towards the main road. ‘The cow suddenly struggled, the tether broke, and it ran towards the main road on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda,’ said Wirjan. Approximately one hour later, the cow was secured by residents near the UIN Female Dormitory area in Pisangan Village. As of this report, the sacrificial animal slaughter process at Masjid As Salam continued under the supervision of the committee and local residents.
