Sabrina-look-alike contest attracts over 180 entrants

JAKARTA (JP): Who would miss a chance to win two Air France tickets to Paris or an outfit from Cerrutti 1881 Ladies?

These were the grand prizes in the Sabrina Look-alike Contest, which took place on Thursday, May 9, at the Regent Hotel in South Jakarta.

The contest, organized by PT Inti Fasindo Internasional and United International Pictures was a promotion for the movie Sabrina, which is now playing in local movie theaters. Other sponsors included the Regent Hotel, Guerlain Paris and Dewi magazine.

Of the 186 entrants, 10 qualified for the grand final at the Regent. Only nine showed up.

Yunike Lesmana, a dentist who graduated from Trisakti University, won the tickets to Paris. Looking puzzled, she said she never thought she would win. She said that other than the tickets, her motive for entering the contest was to prove popular opinion about female dentists -- that they are a boring lot only interested in teeth -- wrong.

Most of the finalists admitted that the two tickets to Paris was their main reason for participating.

The runner-up, Vonny Sofyan, brought home an outfit from Cerruti 1881 Ladies. Third place finisher, Yasmin, received a package from Guerlain Paris.

Both the idea and the result of the contest were unique because none of the finalists actually looked like Sabrina, who is played by Julia Ormond in the movie.

Jury members said their criteria included personality and appearance.(24)
