Vice-Chairman of the NasDem Party, Saan Mustopa attended a consolidation meeting with officials from the NasDem Regional Board in Sukabumi City and District at the Horison Hotel in Sukabumi City, West Java, yesterday. In his remarks, Saan Mustopa emphasised the importance of strengthening party structures early in preparation for the political contest in the 2029 elections.

He stressed that this consolidation served as an opportunity to evaluate the results of previous elections whilst mapping out new strategies, particularly in the Electoral District (Dapil) 4 West Java region.

Saan outlined fluctuations in the party’s seat allocation from the 2014 to 2024 elections. He noted a decline in seats at the national parliament (DPR RI) and provincial parliament (DPRD Provinsi) level in Dapil Jabar 4, including results in the Sukabumi District Regional Parliament that fell short of targets.

“This evaluation is important so that the experience from the 2024 elections is not repeated. We are reviewing the election results journey from 2014 until yesterday to prepare more precise steps,” said Saan in his statement on Saturday (14 March 2026).

Nevertheless, Saan appreciated positive developments at the Sukabumi City Regional Parliament level. NasDem managed to increase its seat allocation from one seat to three seats in the most recent election.

He considered this achievement a strong foundation for consolidating the party’s position in the Greater Sukabumi region. Based on the evaluation results, the NasDem Regional Board and Regional Leadership set ambitious targets for the 2029 elections, specifically at least one seat in the national parliament, one seat in the West Java provincial parliament, and optimisation of seat allocation at the district and city parliamentary levels.

To achieve these targets, NasDem will conduct structural consolidation gradually down to grassroots level. Beyond organisational improvements, the recruitment process for legislative candidates will also be prepared more thoroughly.

“We want to present the best cadres who are capable of competing competitively and earning the public’s trust in the upcoming 2029 elections,” he concluded.

For information, accompanying Saan in this activity were the Chairman of the NasDem Regional Board for West Java, Mamat Rachmat, and the Secretary of the NasDem Regional Board for West Java, Hendi Sutresna.
