S. Sulawesi officials sacked

UJUNGPADANG, South Sulawesi: Governor Z.B. Palaguna confirmed
yesterday that Ujungpandang Secretary Hakamuddin Jamal and the
head of the administration's political directorate, Dick Dernadi,
had been removed from their posts.

Palaguna would not say why the two were removed but admitted
that it was connected to the countless demands for reform.

The governor refused to say whether the removal was connected
to reports of corruption, retorting that Hakamuddin was a
dedicated and loyal servant, and that the decision was the
prerogative of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta. (37)
