S. Sulawesi has new police chief

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Col. I Ketut Pasek Suyasa took
his oath as the new police chief of South and Southeast Sulawesi
yesterday, replacing Col. Deddi Ganriyadi.

Ketut was formerly chief of the intelligence department of the
West Java police command. Deddi became the new police chief of
Central Kalimantan last week.

The provincial police commander Brig. Gen. Kariyoso said in
the inauguration ceremony that the local police should be wary of
the increasing crime in the area, Antara reported. (pan)
