S. Korea's exports drop

SEOUL (Dow Jones): South Korea's prices on export and import
products fell 11.7 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively, in
April from a month ago due to the won's rise against the U.S.
dollar, the central Bank of Korea said yesterday.

The drop in export and import prices this month was also
attributed to subsiding demand in Southeast Asian countries, said
the central bank.

This marks three consecutive months of decline in prices of
exports and imports, it said.

Prices of export and import products rose 34.1 percent and
34.3 percent, respectively, in April from the same month a year
ago, said the bank.

On the export side, prices of agricultural, livestock and
fishery products fell 11.2 percent in April from a month ago and
factory-produced goods dropped 11.8 percent, the bank said.
