S. Korean sailors missing

SEOUL (AFP): Six South Korean crew members were listed as missing after a Panamanian-registered freighter sank off China's Shandong peninsula yesterday, the foreign ministry here said.

In a brief statement the ministry said Chinese maritime authority patrol boats had rescued 14 of the crew from the stricken Asian Hope which had been heading for the port of Pusan with a cargo of iron ore.

The patrol boats were combing the area for the missing men, the spokesman said, adding that 11 of those rescued were South Korean nationals and the other three Chinese.
