S. Korean president to visit RP

PHILIPPINES: South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun was to visit the
Philippines next week to further boost ties between the two
countries, a foreign department statement said on Saturday.

During his visit from Dec. 14 through Dec. 16, Roh will
witness the signing of several agreements and business deals
between Seoul and Manila. He will also address the Philippine
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"President Roh's visit would be an opportunity for both
countries to further strengthen their political and economic
ties," the foreign department statement said.

South Korea is the ninth largest trading partner of the
Philippines, accounting for 36.5 percent of foreign direct
investments in 2005. -- DPA
