S. Korean leader to visit Brunei
SEOUL (AFP): South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung will visit
Brunei from Nov. 13 to Nov. 17 for the Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC) summit, officials said on Thursday.
At the APEC summit set for Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, Kim plans to
ask member states to support North Korea's membership to the
regional body, they said.
On the sidelines of the summit, Kim also plans to hold talks
with Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on stabilizing crude oil
supply, U.S. President Bill Clinton and other APEC leaders,
presidential spokesman Park Joon-Young said.
Kim also will visit Singapore from Nov. 23 to Nov. 27 for an
ASEAN + 3 summit, in which South Korea, China and Japan will
participate in the meeting with member states of the Association
of Southeast Asian Nations, he said.
