South Korea has formed a special team to focus on boosting economic and investment cooperation with Indonesia in response to a request from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The request was conveyed Wednesday morning in Seoul to South Korean President Lee Myung-bak through a letter handed over by Indonesia's Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa. Yudhoyono wanted to invite South Korea to take part in Indonesia's programs to support its 2025 economic development visions.
“I handed over the letter to President Lee this morning, which was cordially welcomed because President Lee views that Indonesia [and South Korea] have more than an ordinary relationship, but a special relationship tied by a close friendship.
“As proof, President Lee has formed a special team,” Hatta said in Seoul as quoted by kompas.com.
He added the team would officially inform Indonesia of projects it would prefer as part of the newly refreshed cooperation in Bali this April.
“The Indonesian government will also immediately form a special team to follow up on this agreed acceleration of investment cooperation with South Korea, so that we can ensure the realization,” Hatta said.
