Rustini Muhaimin Distributes Aid to Strengthen Social Solidarity During Ramadan
Jakarta — Rustini Muhaimin Iskandar, head of the Women of the Nation DPP faction, distributed aid to a number of vulnerable persons and elderly individuals at the At Taubah Foundation in Karawang, West Java, to strengthen social solidarity within the community during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to her, Ramadan is an appropriate moment to increase care for one another, particularly for those who require attention and assistance.
“Ramadan teaches us to not only increase personal worship, but also to expand social concern. We want to ensure that vulnerable persons and the elderly also experience happiness and blessing in this holy month,” said Rustini in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The wife of the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar stated that providing attention to vulnerable groups must continue to be strengthened because they are an important part of social life that must not be forgotten.
“Often we are preoccupied with our own affairs, yet around us there are still many siblings who are in need. This gesture of goodwill may not be great in value, but we hope it can be a sign of affection that they are not alone,” she said.
For this reason, she hopes that activities such as this can strengthen the value of togetherness whilst serving as a reminder that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink, but also about bringing compassion and benefit to others.
“We want this Ramadan to be one full of meaning. When we are able to share, however small it may be, that is where blessing will come to us all,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rustini called upon all elements of society, particularly Indonesian women, to continue to foster the spirit of sharing and mutual assistance as a social force of the nation.
“Women have great power in spreading empathy and concern. From family to our immediate surroundings, we can begin small movements that bring goodness to many people,” she said.
