MOSCOW (AFP): Russia successfully launched an Indonesian
satellite into space Saturday aboard its Proton rocket, the Itar-
Tass new agency reported.
The Proton rocket -- which suffered two failed launches in
1999 -- is due in July to transport the Zvezda service module,
the habitable portion of a future International Space Station,
into orbit.
The launch took place in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and carried the
Indonesian communication satellite Garuda 1, Itar-Tass reported.
