Russia's Intelligence: Ukraine Preparing to Launch a New Attack

Moscow — The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has stated that the Ukrainian armed forces are preparing to launch a series of terrorist attacks on Russia’s rear areas. ‘The command of the Ukrainian armed forces is preparing to launch a series of new terrorist attacks against Russia’s rear regions,’ the SVR said in a statement released on Tuesday. Kyiv is said to be launching unmanned aerial vehicles towards Russia from the territory of the Baltic states, which would shorten travel time and increase the attack’s effectiveness. Although Latvia fears it could become a target of retaliation, Ukraine is said to have convinced the Latvian government to approve the operation on the grounds that it would be impossible to determine the exact launch location of the drones. The Russian intelligence agency added that the coordinates of Latvia’s decision-making centre are well known. Latvia’s membership in NATO would also not shield those assisting the terrorist actions from retaliation.
