Russian Security Council Warns Iran: US Ceasefire is Camouflage for Ground Attack Preparation
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MOSCOW – The Russian Security Council, in a statement quoted by TASS on Wednesday (15/4/2026), warned that the United States (US) and Israel are suspected of using the ceasefire and negotiations as camouflage to prepare a ground attack against Iran. It is known that the ceasefire period will soon end at the beginning of next week.
“The United States and Israel could use peace negotiations to prepare a ground operation against Iran, where the Pentagon continues to increase the number of US troops in the region,” reads the official statement from the Russian Security Council.
The Russian Security Council referred to the US Army’s Joint Command Centre, which revealed that there are 50,000 American troops in the region, including 2,500 marines from the 11th Expeditionary Corps, more than 1,200 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division, and special forces from Delta and the 75th Ranger Regiment.
“There are also around 500 aircraft units from the US Air Force at airfields in the Middle East, including more than 250 tactical aircraft, as well as more than 20 ships from the US Navy. As stated by US President Donald Trump, these forces remain in positions ‘near Iran’ until Tehran meets the demands put forward by Washington,” the Russian Security Council statement added.
“The deployment of the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East continues. The amphibious assault group, led by the USS Boxer with 2,500 marines, and the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush are moving towards the conflict area. Their arrival in the Arabian Sea is estimated to coincide with the two-week ceasefire period.”
