Jakarta (ANTARA) - A unit from the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy arrived on Sunday at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta as part of joint activities with the Indonesian Navy, including joint exercises.

According to a written statement from the Russian Embassy in Jakarta, the Russian naval unit arriving in Indonesia this time consists of the corvette Gromky-335, the submarine Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky B-274, and the tugboat Andrey Stepanov.

“Joint exercises in the fields of manoeuvring and communication are planned,” according to the Russian Embassy in Jakarta in a statement confirmed on Sunday.

The welcoming ceremony for the Russian ships at Tanjung Priok was attended by Deputy Commander of the Naval Regional Command (Kodaeral) III Brigadier General TNI (Marine) Dian Suryansyah and Deputy Commander of the Northeastern Forces and Strengths of the Pacific Fleet Russian Navy Rear Admiral Evgeny Myasoedov.

The Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, also welcomed and inspected the Russian Navy ships that arrived at Tanjung Priok.

During the arrival ceremony, both parties highlighted the close naval cooperation that has long been ongoing.

Both parties also committed “to continue strengthening interactions to maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region,” according to the Russian Embassy in Jakarta.

Before the joint exercises between the Russian Navy and the Indonesian Navy are held, the Russian ship commanders and their crews are scheduled to attend working meetings, protocol activities, and friendly sports competitions.

The Russian Embassy also stated that the ships will be open for public visits (open ship) on Tuesday (31/3) from 10:00 to 16:00 WIB.

Indonesia previously welcomed the arrival of Russian Navy ships from the Pacific Fleet in May 2025 for a visit and joint exercises, as well as to mark the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Russia diplomatic relations.

The Russian Navy ships that docked at Tanjung Priok at that time were the Corvette Aldar Tsidenzhapov-339, Rezkiy-343, and the tanker Pechenga. These three ships were known to have participated in the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 (MNEK) in February 2025.
