Russian Media Reports Iran Will Attack US Data Centres in Arab Nations
Tehran will launch attacks against data centres in Arab countries used by the United States in military operations against Iran, according to Iranian diplomatic sources cited by RIA Novosti on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The Iranian diplomat added that Washington is also utilising optical fibre infrastructure in Arab nations for operations against Iran.
“The United States uses data centres in Arab countries to support intelligence and military operations against Iran. There is a possibility that Iran will attack these data centres in the coming days,” the source stated, as reported by Russian media outlet RIA Novosti on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
The assumption that attacks against data centres and optical fibre infrastructure in Middle Eastern countries may occur is based on the fact that Arab governments have not taken steps to prevent “misuse” by US military forces.
On 28 February, the US and Israel launched a joint assault against Iran, including Tehran, causing infrastructure damage and loss of life. Iran subsequently conducted retaliatory strikes against Israeli territory and American military bases throughout the Middle East.
The US and Israel initially claimed the attacks were necessary to counter threats from Iran’s nuclear programme, but it later became clear that they actually sought regime change in Iran. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the US-Israel assault. Iran subsequently declared a 40-day period of mourning.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin described Khamenei’s killing as a cynical violation of international law. Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned the US-Israel assault against Iran. They called for de-escalation and an immediate cessation of hostilities.
