Russian Foreign Ministry: Objectives of BoP Questioned Amid Middle East Crisis
Moscow (ANTARA) - Kirill Logvinov, an official from the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that more and more questions are arising about the true objectives and goals of the Board of Peace (BoP), an initiative by US President Donald Trump, amid the current situation in the Middle East. “Against this background (the deteriorating situation in the Middle East), even countries that have officially joined are increasingly questioning the true objectives and goals of the Board of Peace and its practical modalities. Interestingly, many delegations have chosen observer status,” said the director of the department for international organisations at the Russian Foreign Ministry to RIA Novosti. Logvinov also noted that Israel is maintaining its military activities in the Gaza Strip while significantly restricting the delivery of humanitarian aid. “Despite coinciding with the most important religious holidays, namely the end of Ramadan and Easter, the status quo has been violated and access to the Holy Sites in Jerusalem has been denied. According to the UN Secretary-General, Lebanon risks facing a similar fate to the Gaza Strip. Tensions are also rising in southern Syria, including in Suwayda and the Golan Heights,” Logvinov said.
