Russian Foreign Minister: International Relations Face the Toughest Test
Moscow (ANTARA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that international relations are currently facing their toughest test, as global tensions rise in various strategic regions.
“Today, the foundations of international relations are being tested the most severely… let us look at what happened at the beginning of the year in Latin America, Venezuela, and what is happening now in the Middle East,” Lavrov said on Tuesday.
He assessed that developments in several regions indicate increasing complexity in global dynamics, which directly affects international stability.
Lavrov mentioned the crisis in Ukraine, which he believes was “artificially created by the West” to weaken Russia, and is now being used as a pretext for European countries to form new alliances in the western part of the Eurasian continent.
Those alliances, he said, are clearly directed against Moscow and aim to strengthen the West’s geopolitical position in the region.
He added that these dynamics reflect a shift in Europe’s security and political strategies, which are becoming increasingly polarised.
Meanwhile, Lavrov also highlighted the situation in eastern Eurasia, which he considers no less risky.
“A very, very dangerous game” is still ongoing in that region, he stated.
