Russian Embassy Regrets Two Citizens Involved in Bali Drug Syndicate
The Russian Embassy (Kedubes) in Indonesia has expressed regret over two Russian nationals who became part of a narcotics syndicate in Bali. The embassy does not condone the conduct of these citizens.
“A secret laboratory for narcotics production has been uncovered. Unfortunately, this is the conduct of Russian citizens. This is genuinely saddening. However, this is not a reason to justify such actions,” said Olesya Netesova, Second Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Indonesia, at the BNN complex in East Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
The Russian Embassy stressed its commitment to upholding Indonesian law in combating narcotics. The embassy also committed to maintaining good relations between Indonesia and Russia.
“We are committed to the law, both Indonesian and Russian, in combating narcotics and maintaining good relations between our two countries,” she said.
The Russian Embassy appreciated the BNN’s efforts in uncovering the Russian syndicate case in Bali. The results of the investigation were also deemed impressive.
“Law enforcement activities are the foundation of our struggle. Law enforcement officers are those who maintain order for ordinary citizens. And today we see impressive results from these efforts,” she said.
For information, the Russian narcotics syndicate established a clandestine laboratory for narcotics in a villa in Gianyar, Bali. Kilograms of mephedrone or “party drug” were seized by authorities at the location.
The network was dismantled by a joint BNN team working with Customs, Immigration, and Bali Police. Two Russian nationals comprising a woman with initials NT alias KK and a man with initials ST were arrested in the operation.
In this operation, officers successfully seized nearly 8 kilogrammes of “party drug”. Additionally, various precursor chemicals were also confiscated.
BNN Chief Major General Suyudi Ario Seto said the exposure was the result of intensive investigation since January 2026. The joint team finally conducted the operation on Thursday, 5 March 2026, at Vila Lavana De’Bale Marcapada, Blahbatuh, Gianyar.
“In the operation, officers managed to secure two suspects who are Russian nationals, namely NT alias KK and ST,” said Suyudi in his statement on Saturday, 7 March.
The BNN also destroyed the evidence. The destruction was carried out at the BNN complex in East Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March.
