Russian and Iranian Presidents discuss Middle East situation via telephone
Moscow — Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, 10 March, to discuss the situation in the Middle East, according to a statement from the Kremlin.
According to the Kremlin, the two leaders continued exchanging views regarding regional developments related to what the statement characterised as Israeli-American aggression against Iran.
Putin reiterated Russia’s principled stance supporting rapid de-escalation of the conflict and its resolution through political channels, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Russia for its support, including humanitarian assistance provided to Iran, the statement added.
The two leaders had previously held a telephone conversation on 6 March.
