Russian Ambassador Offers Eid al-Fitr Greetings, Highlights Solidarity and Friendship
JAKARTA - The Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslims in Indonesia and around the world.
In his message, he emphasised the importance of values such as solidarity, compassion, and strengthening inter-nation relations.
“On behalf of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Jakarta, I extend warm greetings to all Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia and throughout the world,” said Tolchenov in his statement on Sunday (22/3/2026).
He noted that the month of Ramadan is a time dedicated to self-reflection, enhancing social awareness, and reinforcing spiritual values.
Furthermore, Tolchenov assessed that the Eid al-Fitr celebration holds not only religious significance but also social meaning.
This moment is seen as capable of tightening family and community relations, while also reminding of the importance of mutual respect amid diversity.
He also spotlighted the presence of the Muslim community in Russia, which he said numbers more than 20 million people.
According to him, this community is an important part of Russia’s cultural diversity and religious life.
“In Russia, Eid al-Fitr is also celebrated by a dynamic Muslim community and is an inseparable part of the cultural and religious diversity,” he said.
He also stressed his hope that this momentum would further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between Russia and Indonesia.
“May this joyous day bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to you and your loved ones, and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Russia and Indonesia. Happy Eid al-Fitr!” he concluded.
