JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, mocked the double standards of US President Donald Trump, who attacked Iran on the grounds of developing nuclear facilities. However, according to Sergei, North Korea clearly possesses nuclear facilities for military purposes, yet the United States remains unmoved. “You know, since the beginning of this year, Trump has attacked Venezuela, Iran, but no one has attacked, for example, North Korea. Why?” Sergei said when met at the Radio Sonora office in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026). Although, Sergei noted, this is a joke that is commonly circulating in the global community. He also stated that the solution to the current Iran-US-Israel conflict is to restore normal life for Iran. The United States and the world must understand that Iran is not using nuclear development for military purposes, but for energy needs. Therefore, Sergei assessed that the most realistic solution at present to stop the conflict is to return Iran to its normal life as before. “Let them live their normal lives with nuclear energy, with everything,” Sergei emphasised.
