Russia Will Not Support Temporary Solutions to Ukraine Crisis, Says Foreign Minister Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said his country will not support temporary solutions in resolving the Ukraine crisis. “For Russia, this issue is fundamental and we, of course, will not support temporary decisions or accept ultimatums imposed by other parties,” Lavrov said at the Primakov Readings forum on Wednesday. He added that those opposing Russia must understand that warnings in the field of its national security cannot be ignored. “At the same time, the West must understand, the sooner the better, that plans for military-political, geo-economic, and ideological expansion into Russia’s vital interest zones must be abandoned,” Lavrov said. The conflict in Ukraine can still be resolved through diplomacy, Lavrov stated, while adding that Russia remains committed to the agreements reached in Alaska.
