Russia: UN Security Council Meeting on Maritime Security Scheduled for 27 April
Moscow (ANTARA) - A United Nations Security Council meeting on shipping security is scheduled to take place on 27 April, Kirill Logvinov, director of the international organisations department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told RIA Novosti. He stated that during the meeting, the Russian side will outline its approach to the issue. “The next United Nations Security Council meeting related to shipping security is scheduled for 27 April,” Logvinov said to the news agency. “During the upcoming event in New York, we plan to outline our fundamental approach to this issue, emphasising certainty in comprehensive security for commercial shipping from any country across the world’s oceans,” added the department director. According to the diplomat, shipping issues are usually discussed not at the UN, but at the International Maritime Organisation. “Now, it seems, this topic is being included in the UN agenda,” Logvinov said.
