Russia Signals Acceptance of US Proposal on Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that a US proposal regarding Ukraine, discussed by President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump at a summit in Alaska, has been accepted by the Russian side. This follows remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who had previously characterised the discussions as merely a proposal rather than a formal agreement. Lavrov questioned this distinction, arguing that if one party presents a proposal and the other agrees to it, it constitutes an agreement. He added that the proposal was indeed discussed and accepted during the Alaska meeting, though he noted that the overall situation still requires further clarification.
