Russia Says Iran-US Conflict Benefits Neither Side
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday that continued hostilities in the Middle East are not advantageous for either the United States or Iran. “However, I feel that continued hostilities are not beneficial for either the United States or Iran,” Lavrov said at a press conference following the Russia-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting. “There are parties who want to provoke both sides to continue this conflict. We are not one of them,” he added. The Russian foreign minister added that his country believes there will be political circles in Iran that oppose halting nuclear weapons development. He also stressed that reports alleging Russia and China are supplying Iran in the conflict with the United States are untrue.
