Russia, RI sign info agreement

JAKARTA: Russia and Indonesia signed a bilateral agreement on mutual protection of classified information here on Thursday.

Representing the Russian government was first deputy director of the Russian Federal Security Service Sergei Smirnov, while director general of procurement at the defense ministry Aklani Masa signed the agreement on behalf the Indonesian government.

The last obstacle in the development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries was overcome, Smirnov told RIA Novosti news agency.

During his stay in Indonesia, Smirnov met with head of the Indonesian state intelligence agency A.M. Hendropriyono, visited defense industry enterprises in Bandung and a new antiterrorist center in Semarang. -- JP
