Russia Ready to Help Indonesia Send Astronauts into Space

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov has conveyed his country’s readiness to help Indonesia send astronauts into space. Quoted from Sputnik on Saturday (15/8/2026), Tolchenov confirmed that training for Indonesian astronauts is one of the topics being discussed between relevant agencies in Moscow and Jakarta. If Indonesian representatives are genuinely interested in sending astronauts into space, according to him, the Russian space agency Roscosmos is ready to establish cooperation. “Why can’t we send an Indonesian astronaut? If only he could fly into space on a Russian spacecraft, that would be very good,” said Tolchenov. According to Tolchenov, Russia has previously succeeded in flying astronauts from a number of countries, such as Mongolia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Now, Indonesia is set to follow those countries.
