Russia ready to help Indonesia send astronaut into space

Moscow (ANTARA) - Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov has revealed Russia’s willingness to help send an Indonesian astronaut into space. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Tolchenov confirmed that training for Indonesian astronauts is one of the topics being discussed between relevant agencies in Moscow and Jakarta. If Indonesia is genuinely interested in sending an astronaut into space, Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, is ready to establish cooperation in this regard, he said. “Why can’t we send an Indonesian astronaut? If he could fly into space aboard a Russian spacecraft, that would be excellent,” said the Russian Ambassador to Indonesia. He added that Russia has previously succeeded in flying astronauts from a number of countries, such as Mongolia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
