Russia proposes India as mediator in normalising Iran-Arab world relations
New Delhi (ANTARA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has proposed that India act as a mediator in efforts to normalise relations between Iran and Arab nations.
“India is the chair (of BRICS). India directly depends on oil supplies, including from this region. Why doesn’t India offer its good offices, as the BRICS chair, by inviting Iran and the United Arab Emirates to dialogue, and prevent hostility?” said Lavrov while in India, Friday.
To reporters after attending the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting, Lavrov said that one of the main objectives of US-Israeli aggression against Iran is to prevent the improvement of relations between Iran and other Arab countries.
“If the conflict is carried out in a very specific context, namely to end the 47 years of Iran ‘terrorising’ its neighbours and the entire surrounding world,” said Lavrov.
“Then it is the same as the pretext for involvement in drug trafficking, which was created as a reason to abduct the President of Venezuela,” he added.
