Russia: New anti-Iran resolution risks triggering chain escalation

Moscow (ANTARA) - The anti-Iran resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors risks triggering a new chapter of escalation, stated Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organisations in Vienna, on Wednesday.

The anti-Iran resolution was proposed by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Within the resolution, these nations called for Iran’s nuclear issues to be referred to the UN Security Council.

The four nations assess that Iran has violated its obligations regarding nuclear non-proliferation.

“This new resolution is biased and confrontational, risks triggering a new chapter of escalation, and certainly will not help achieve the objectives claimed by its proponents,” Ulyanov stated during the IAEA Board of Governors meeting.
