Russia: Many countries remain interested in joining BRICS despite Western pressure

New Delhi (ANTARA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that many countries remain interested in joining BRICS despite facing pressure from Western countries.

“I do not see a decrease in interest in BRICS following pressure from Western countries, especially the United States, which openly stated that BRICS is almost the main enemy of progress,” said Lavrov in India on Friday, where he participated in a BRICS ministerial meeting.

He also revealed that several other countries have expressed interest in joining BRICS, without mentioning the names of the countries.

“I do not see a decrease in interest in joining our association, either as a member or as a partner country,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.

The BRICS countries also continue to strive to prevent the politicization of the G20 agenda, he added.
