Russia Continues Providing Intelligence to Iran Despite Trump Envoy Warning
The United States has warned Russia not to share intelligence information with Iran. According to Washington, Moscow’s provision of intelligence to Iran in its conflict against the US and Israel is unacceptable.
The message was conveyed by Steve Witkoff, special envoy to President Donald Trump, who spoke to journalists aboard the presidential aircraft Air Force One.
“I have made that clear in no uncertain terms,” Witkoff stated, expressing hope that Russia would heed his warning.
President Donald Trump said Washington has not received confirmation that Moscow is assisting Iran with intelligence information. However, if it is occurring, Trump stated it would not change conditions on the ground.
“We don’t know. But the situation is not good. If they are receiving information, it is not helping them much,” Trump said.
A Washington Post report, cited by Anadolu on Friday 6 March 2026, revealed that Russia has been providing intelligence information to Iran regarding the locations of US military assets in the Middle East. This explains why Iranian missiles and drones have so far struck US military assets with considerable accuracy.
Anonymous Washington Post sources indicate that Russia has been providing information since hostilities commenced last Saturday, including the locations of US military assets such as moored ships and parked fighter jets. “This appears to be a fairly comprehensive assistance effort,” stated one source.
